Waelderhaus Events

In 2017, Kohler Foundation is pleased to once again present a series of unique cultural events - free to the public* - at the historic Waelderhaus in Kohler. There are no tickets for these events, but reservations are encouraged, due to space limitations. Make reservations by phone (920-458-1972) or email. Performances begin at 2:00 P. M.  Suggested $5.00 donation at the door helps defray the costs of these and future events.

During the 2016 holiday season, the 20th Annual Great Gingerbread Festival welcomed a record 8,700 visitors to the Waelderhaus. Delicious gingerbread creations submitted by local school and community groups filled the Saal (great hall) and free musical performances were held each Saturday and Sunday during the season. Visitors voted for their favorite gingerbread creations, and at the end of the Festival, the highest vote-getters in each age category were awarded cash prizes for their classrooms!

Join Kohler Foundation for our free festive holiday tradition again in 2017, from November 24 to December 30. Daily tours of the Waelderhaus are still offered at 2:00PM, 3:00PM, and 4:00PM (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Weekend musical performances feature local and regional performers of all ages.

Browse locally-made gingerbread houses and vote daily for your favorite creation. Prizes will be awarded in six different age categories. Complimentary gingerbread cookies. Holiday music every Saturday and Sunday. Festival is free and open to the public.

Performing to acclaim worldwide for more than 50 years, the Chicago Brass Quintet will play holiday favorites as part of the Arts at the Waelderhaus series at 3:00 p.m. on December 10.

The Chicago Brass Quintet was formed to promote the appreciation and enjoyment of brass chamber music through performances, educational workshops, broadcasts, recordings, and commissioning new works.

During their first decade, the quintet’s energies were devoted to educational concerts in and around the Chicago metropolitan area, exploring new repertoire for the brass quintet in the form of original works for brass, and arrangements of classic compositions adaptable for brass.

Today, the quintet continues to maintain an active touring and recording schedule including recitals, guest performances with symphony orchestras, and a wide variety of programs.

The Chicago Brass Quintet is composed of Ross Beacraft, trumpet; Matt Lee, trumpet;       Dan O'Connell, horn; Adam Moen, trombone; and Dan Anderson, tuba.
