Conservation has been completed on a number of sculptures by self-taught artist Carl Peterson. Peterson created an outdoor "Environmental Sculpture Garden of Nature" in St. James, Minnesota, around the turn of the century, finally completing his work in 1937.
Much of the original art environment has been acquired and has undergone extensive conservation treatment. Large pieces, including a lighthouse, 45-foot flagpole, decorative birdbath, and lighting fixtures have been installed outdoors at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. An impressive village of castles and other structures have become part of the permanent collection of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
