Works
by David Butler
Several works by preeminent African American environment builder David
Butler have been acquired and undergone conservation treatment. Most
importantly, three "screens," actually paintings that are
documented as having covered windows in his residence, have been added
to the permanent collection of the John
Michael Kohler Arts Center. Several other works including a large
whirligig also joined the collection. David Butler's works are in major
museum collections in the U.S. and have been exhibited at the Smithsonian
and High Museum of Art.
